It is interesting, but I do not know if it is art.
I shall keep my observations (you know it’s going to be negative) to myself, and regale you with the positives instead.
As with all H events, the place gets crowded really quickly; it is one thing to be fashionably late, but another to be packed-til-your-neighbour’s-champagne-threatens-to-spill-on-your-precious-B late. So this time, Jenny and I sauntered in leisurely, early. The number of fashionably turned-out lovelies per square H feet was still decent, an hour later it would be obscene.
There was a lady standing near the entrance who’s giving everyone the once-over, right down her nose. (What is up with people like that?) There were also however, cute young boys handing out champagne flutes. Which made it all pleasant again.
We went up to the second floor, and I met Judy (yay!) from Takashimaya Hermes. She’s a class act, this Judy. She always remembers my name, is always so gracious and treats you like a million dollars though I hardly ever get any big-ticket item from her. Now that is gold.
I however, didn’t like the scowling lady (at me!) she was talking to prior to my warm greetings.
Anyhoo, we went up to the third floor and met the very personable June (whom I had met at the Fendi dinner). That moment right there was really sweet, a bunch of Hermes lovers coming to enjoy Hermes and share bag anecdotes, not to scowl or judge.
It got a little too crowded and we soon made our way downstairs. And of course, we had to go drool at the merchandise. I saw a rivale belt which I had been lusting after; Jenny spotted a classy yet interesting and really pretty H pair of earrings (it’s cubic! You can see the H from 5 sides!)

I was remarking to Jenny about a certain turquoisey blue birkin I saw on a handsome young man (ok so I’m lying, I only had eyes for the bag). Jenny wondered if a certain Hermes-loving gentleman whom she has been in correspondence with (but have never met) was also there. Then we both wondered if that Hermes-loving gentleman would be the one with the gorgeous blue birkin. I urged her to text him, and yes! before long, we see the beautiful vision of blue walking towards us.
We became fast friends in no time and had the nicest time chatting about our bag journeys, about mutual H-loving friends (small world small world). It was the most marvellous part of the evening. Next to the cute young boys who keep offering champagne refills!
But I’m kicking myself as I’m writing this. Cos only after he’d left, did I think of taking a picture of his gorgeous bag.
That blue… it was the perfect ending to a H evening.
P.S. When I left, I spotted this CDC belt at the window, which I had REALLY wanted before. Almost made me wish I didn’t get my newest C jacket. Almost.
